Our implementation of LightGuide’s augmented reality software transforms our part specific manual processes. With LightGuide, the assembly process for these interior panels is projected down onto an employee’s work surface in digital, step-by-step AR work instructions that can automatically advance as the operator completes each step.

 

With hundreds of possible configurations assembled and shipped by customer sequence number on each station, this process had always required significant training and experienced operators. This system standardizes and error-proofs the workflow, drastically decreasing the training time and increasing quality output. This allows for new operators to scan a part and immediately be guided step by step through the assembly process. Coupled with 3D sensors and vision cameras, the system prevents and detects errors in real-time while capturing data and insights on the operator’s performance and quality. The system captures an image of each completed part and saves it serial number, allowing us to trace any customer concerns. We have integrated this system with our MES system to ensure that designated panels cannot be loaded or shipped without the first passing through this system, ensuring quality.
